How to Pin Sites to Start Menu with Microsoft Edge Chromium in Windows 10

Microsoft has adopted the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility. This new Microsoft Edge runs on the same Chromium web engine as the Google Chrome browser, offering you best in class web compatibility and performance.

The new Chromium based Microsoft Edge is supported on all versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server (2016 and above), Windows Server (2008 R2 to 2012 R2), and macOS.

Microsoft Edge lets you pin sites as a tile on the Start menu each with their own icon for quick access to tabs for your pinned sites. These pinned sites will always open in Microsoft Edge.

This tutorial will show you how to pin and unpin sites as a tile on the Start menu with the Chromium based Microsoft Edge for your account in Windows 10.

Pin to Start is currently only available as part of controlled feature roll-outs in the Dev and Canary channels of Microsoft Edge, so not everyone will have this feature yet.

When you pin a site to Start in Microsoft Edge, the pinned site will also appear under All apps and pins in Microsoft Edge like below.

Unpinning a site from Start will not remove the site from the All apps and pins list. If you want to remove the unpinned site from All apps and pins, you can do so in Settings > Apps > Manage apps, and click on the uninstall (X) button for the site.
