Currently, option 4 or 5 can be used to disable the Meet Now icon on the taskbar.

Is Meet Now on a gradual roll out? It’s not available in the system icons list on one of my machines to enable or disable (both 20H2 19042.630) which is public latest release

I think it might of only popped up on our other machine the other day as I can’t say I’ve noticed it before

    Hello,

It says in the coming weeks from the 19042.610 release notes below, so it may be a bit longer before you get it.

    • Introducing Meet Now in the Windows 10 Taskbar

Earlier this year we introduced Meet Now in Skype. Meet Now makes it easy to connect with anyone in as little as two clicks for free and each call can last up to 24 hours. Today, we’re excited to share that we will be extending this capability in Windows 10 by bringing Meet Now right to the taskbar. In the coming weeks, you will be able to easily set up a video call and reach friends and family in an instant by clicking the Meet Now icon in the taskbar notification area. No sign ups or downloads needed.
    • Updates an issue that causes a device to stop responding after you have been using a pen for several hours.

Its an option in Windows for Christ's sake, why a tweak when its integrated right next to everything else?

    Hello Timmy,

I'm not sure what you mean. All the options in this tutorial are built-in settings in Windows 10.

In settings, taskbar, "turn system icons on or off" it is there, right clicking the icon and selecting "hide" also enables this option.

Im just asking, isnt it kinda overdoing it when you are "tweaking" something that isnt really a tweak since its right there in the O\S along with the other system icons? Are there tweaks to turn off the volume icon? The Network icon? Its the exact same thing.

Yeah, it's all basically just different ways to either turn on/off or enable/disable the Meet Now icon using the already included settings in Windows 10.

Yep, you can also turn on/off or enable/disable the other icons as well.

It isn't described as a tweak in the tutorial. But many people who don't use Skype have been asking how to get rid of the Meet Now icon since most users of versions 1903/1909 or 2004/20H2 acquired it with the November cumulative update.

I noticed an interesting behavior that possibly makes the "tweaks" not only useful, but necessary.

I disabled the Meet Now icon via Settings > Taskbar > Turn System icons on or off a few days ago. When I checked today the Meet Now icon was no longer available on that screen to enable. I wonder if anyone else noticed this also? I don't have Skype installed so maybe everyone sees it at least once as a sort of promotion, but once you disable it it's gone unless you have Skype installed?
