    Oh I did, still not working

    At this point I think clean install is the way to go, but how do I keep all my files? Please help
    @grnlizard

    If you're going to do a clean install, the only way to keep all your files (pics, vids, documents, etc.) , is to save them somewhere first, on an external drive, DVD, or put them on OneDrive. After install, set up One Drive (you will prompted to do so) and all your files will come back. External drive or DVD allows you to control that locally, yourself. It's your choice. But, either way, a clean install is just that....clean. You have to get your files back yourself. Nothing will be automatically saved for you in the install process. I know of no way to save during a clean install. You have to prepare beforehand so you have the files ready to copy back in some manner.

    Here is a link to Shawn's tutorial for doing a clean install.

    I can't answer that. Windows 7 is not Windows 10 and vice-versa. I feel for you, really. But if it's the only way, it's the only way. Don't mean to sound philosophical, but computers are like life....ain't perfect.

    Do the best you can. Don't know anything else to say.

    I DID IT!! Haha, I cant delete the stupid folder but weirdly enough I can rename it to something else, also ran CCleaner to delete some Temporary Files, and then BAM, the Setup works flawlessly, now my PC feels like it has been reborn, my start Menu is back, and finally can see some changes happened in the OS, I can even delete that stupid folder I renamed with no problem.

    Cant believe how much time I wasted just to get this done, now I finally can move on with my life, pretty sure my Windows gonna get corrupted again at some point, but atleast I got the ISO now. Feels damn good man, thank you for all the replies, it helps in a way.

    absolutely feeling with you, congrats.
    @Brink
    I've now had repeatedly situations where the repair install failed to fix some issues, related to Windows 10 AppX, like start menu not appearing or not finding apps in cortana search.
    The only way I found to fix those was by creating a new admin user and migrating as many of the settings and files over as possible without damaging the new user again.
    It would be really great if you could add or link a tutorial how to proceed for such a user clone? If you wish I could also provide some of my experience.

    Hello @GalaxyGe,

    Usually when a repair install is unable to repair Windows, it's time to either reset Windows or clean install Windows.

    In your situation, it may be best to use the new account instead if everything works properly in it. If the old account was your Microsoft account, then you could delete that account after copying over any files you wanted to the new account, and then switch the new account to a Microsoft account after deleting the old account. Be sure the new account is set to be an administrator first though.

    Unfortunately, there are dozens and doz's of these posts in the User Accounts thread, mostly from people who set up 10 with their MS acct and found an undesirable, truncated User name made up by MS from their email address or those with extra users or corrupted profile after a 'signed in with Temp profile' boot.
    What you did is easy and quick (depending on how many files needed to be transferred between profiles) and the proper way to fix these things.

    Yeah I don't know how many umpteen issues I've had with user accounts or profiles. I'll get it fixed then a bit down the road things will happen again an again. Mostly like booting into safe mode with networking won't connect to the internet is the first give-away.
    Having an AMD gfx card there is a good uninstaller that requires you to be in SMwN an the utility updates itself online but when that goes south I usually update the thing first then take to safe mode whereas when my UserProfile is working correctly it'll do so in SMwN...
    I've created new users ad nauseum but there always seems to be the problem of what caused it in the first place cropping up in the 'NEW' user. Clean reinstalls are fine but I have so many games (several hundred GBs) that require re-installing and the registry files that go with 'em that that option is a last resort...usually I just suffer with the broken user profiles.

    Creating a new user is, but copying a user and transferring as many settings as possible isn't trivial at all.
    It took me several attempts and many hours to get it done. It depends of course on the number and complexity of the programs you have installed.

    What I found is that one must ensure not to overwrite the new user's registry files with the corrupt one's - which are highly likely the cause of the problems... so you definitely don't want to move them over (other than for trial)

    Further, I left alone any files connected to Cryptography or Certificates, another precaution but I'm not sure about it..

    That's why I asked about a tutorial how to clone a user but there doesn't seem to be one.
