yessir I did....it was posted here somewhere so I copy>pasted it to a notepad stuck it in a folder for future reference....thought it was this post. There was some talk about creating a .bat and the fellow [can't remember his name for the life of me] put this together as a quick workaround. works great btw.

and the usual run CMD as Admin.

They're actually separate commands separated by the & sign to allow them to run in one line. The pause command allows the command prompt to stay opened (paused until press a key) to see the results.

where did you read about this here on the Forum's ?

Also when using multiple commands on the same line by using ‘&’ or ‘&&’ between commands.
Using a single & will cause the first command and then the second command to be run in sequence.
Using && introduces error checking. The second command will run only if the first command is successful.

I hear you. That wasn't a nice surprise.

Just a little trick I learned to do a long time ago, simply because MS is determined to reset/delete lots of your personal tweaks and settings.

I make ONE .reg file that contains all the tweaks I have made to my system. Then it is not so painful to put them back and reboot.

I also export the Windows Metrics for my system to a .reg and I can easily merge them back after a reinstall or new build. Metrics contains the font size, spacing, etc.

This is the registry key to export:



The same method could be used for any other settings or areas to want to save then restore.

I do this also with the "favorites" in Registry Editor:



EDIT: One last one -- this one is a real timesaver. The Task Manager settings. They are time consuming to redo, especially the "details" tab. The key value is in hex, so hard to read or modify by hand. Don't try!
