You have to remember (which is detailed above) that some things are set to default and you may want to reset them.

Just did repair as noted above, everything seems to be here. Havent checked on all default stuff, but that can be fixed as it comes up.

Running Step 6 - a repair install of Windows 10 with Get Windows 10 (GWX) app. This thing has been downloading for an hour and a half and is only at 9%. Was this a mistake?

It can take a long long time to do a repair install sometimes. As long as it has activity, it's best to let it sit until finished.

Thanks. I appreciate the response. Perhaps if my original post to General Support hadn't gone 19 hours without a response I wouldn't be trying this, although it'll probably be another 19 hours until the download's complete

I did mine yesterday, it took about an hour complete. But I have a 130 mb down net. And did a repair in place. Wasnt too bad at all

It's a Catch-22 situation - the PC is running unbelievably slow, so much that I decided on a repair install. But then the very slowness that I'm trying to remedy keeps the repair from finishing before I get old.

I hear you. It's usually best to let it run overnight in these type of situations. Otherwise, you could bite the bullet and do a clean install for faster and better results if you have backups.

Thanks for the tutorial, I have one concern that want to consult you. Does the repair install mean losing activated license of the "old" Windows?
