Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade  

Hi, I could not do the repairing istall because the system did not gave me the options to keep my files, as you can see in the picture the first 2 option are gray and can not be selected, only the option "Nothing" is available.

I do not know what is wrong.

I just tryied also to start the USB installation media from a 3.0 port ant it did show the same message than before, I had to do it from a USB 2.0 port.

I thing this is all for me about this method, Windows is really a 2000 heads snake.

...I just have notice the bottom message that say that Windows can not keep my personal files, settings and apps because my current version of windows is installed in a unsopported directory.

What is that supouse to mean? ...my PC seems to work correctly except by the sleep/hybernate issue everything else is ok, I have windows installed on my "C:" drive, and I have nothing else there as I have some other drives for softwares and data.

Does anyone have an idea of what the problem is?

Seems like the problem is that users that have changed some registry keys like the "user profiles path" or "Program files" ...etc are having this same problem. In my case I have changed the "user profile" so every new user is created in my dta drive instead of the "C:" drive, so this will be keeping me from do this reapir istall. I think this is all. Thanks!

...I am just wondering how Windows 10 upgrade from Windows 7 in the first palce, if I had already done this changes in my registry.

Yes, but I am afraid about if windows will recognize my created users after the reapir install, as I will need to change the profile path again after the repair. I have never change a user profile of a current user, I just change the user profile of new users and windows create them in the new drive, but change a current user is another thing.

I put my brain on autopilot, and then I simply followed the steps. Simplest fix ever. Many thanks.

With that said, Windows took some time to..um...adjust. I thought I would have to do a clean install, but it was late, and I was tired. I left it until morning, only to discover that during my brief sleep, everything normalized.

If Microsoft would fix the persistent non-errors that create so many glaring red entries in my event viewer and cause me to hare off after fixes that only make it all worse, I'd be happy. Even at that, I'm happier now with this laptop than I've been since I bought it.
