Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

There used to be a thing where you could trick it by changing in the Registry, wasn't there, or was that just for editions? It seems an artificial limitation that if you're on a certain build and want to "downgrade" to the one from last week (same edition) that you really can't do it (using the ISO method, I mean).

Yeah, usually it requires a clean install to downgrade if you are not able to use the go back to previous version of Windows feature.

In-place upgrade seems to be broken in 20H2, as I have experienced myself.

That's rather significant, especially with the number of problems these releases are having.

Yes I tried that as well. Hopefully it will be fixed soon. Version .504 is already out for testing.

What happens if you pick another file on the.iso? It appears there’s 3.

After 2 hours of repeating Downloading/Installing using the built-in updater, and no reboot cycles, I will try this route. Just finished the ISO. Now to reimage back to this morning's session and then apply the in-place upgrade to 2004. Thank you Microsoft.

EDIT1: Three reboots later... finally there. Repair Install/Upgrade worked! I am so thankful for this thread. Used it quite often.
