Oh my. Yeah, it sounds like it's borked and may need to reset or clean install.

Do you have a system image you can restore?

Yeah i thought already about reset, with keeping everything.

What do you mean by system Image? :) You mean like a backup or restore point?
I killed that option also :/ like 1 day before or even on same day, my C disk got randomly full from one day to the other, ~100gb gone.
So when I was looking for the causing thing i disable for a moment restore points.
When I press restore, it says there is no point to restore to :/

Clean Install would be sad because i had some custom things, and a lot of programs and settings
Also i have hackintosh parallel boot, and windows boot manager is not as friendly as open source once :P
When i achieve to solve it, it is also much bigger success revenue

Turning off system restore would delete all restore points, so that explains that.

A system image would be a backup of your system (installation) as it is when created using something like Windows System Image or Macrium Reflect.

It's handy to have when you are out of options to try an repair.

Yeah exactly, i will never do that again, since restore points are helpful.

I guessed so, sadly not but this sounds really handy.

There is no way to initiate windows repair install without GUI ?

I do not understand why i can't to that over bootable usb,.. if it would be windows 7 for example he would just allow me to upgrade. It seems like it is the same compared to repair install.

It'll let you clean install, reset, or refresh at boot, but unfortunately not repair install (in-place upgrade).

To start a repair install you have to run the Setup.exe on the root of your install media from within Windows. If you can open a command prompt you may be able to start it from there.

Which version of Win10 is thew bootable usb for? If it is 1809 or earlier just run Setup from the usb.

If it is 1903 then there is a bug that prevents you running an in-place repair upgrade while a usb is plugged in. To get round this, copy the files and folders from the usb to a folder on C: first, then remove the usb and run Setup from this folder. You can do the copy from a command prompt too. Use xcopy X:*.* C:\Temp\ /s (use the frive letter of the usb in place of X:),

Hmm can open with double click the .exe but when it opens its only the menubar visible.

Command line i can't anything, but i can blindly copy lines and press enter, or i could write a .bat and download it, and run it.
But can i start the setup.exe wit parameters where it starts the installation right away, like pre choosing the options?

Yes, setup does accept command line parameters. I think you want setup.exe /auto upgrade according to this....

I guess i have 1903, but i tried starting Setup.exe from USB and even copying to C:/Temp.
I also tried the /quiet switch, but i get the same error

Bot i get with both ways the same error, i translated from german:
an unknown command line option [/auto] was specified.

I am currently on 1607 but using the upgrade assistant is causing all sorts of problems with windows once 1903 installs (screen blur, mouse acceleration issues and a host of other stuff that isn't a problem with my current build.)

Is it possible with this method to do a clean install of windows, whilst keeping all my apps and files but then also having the ability to roll back to 1607 if 1903 is still causing the same issues?
