Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

I set up a new laptop and after all was done I ran an SFC scan and it found errors. So then I did the 3 Dism commands and it found no issues. So I tried a few more sfc scans and it kept finding errors so I decided to do a repair install following this tutorial and it went great, SFC now finds no integrity violations. Thanks!

Not a big deal but one of the final screens when doing the repair/upgrade install is different that what is shown in the tutorial. Instead of what's in the image in part 13 ("Upgrading Windows") of the tutorial it shows this:



But without the light, lol. I remember when I first tried this a week ago to resolve an issue with another laptop when I saw this screen it made me consider that I wasn't doing the repair/upgrade properly because it was different than what was shown in tutorial - it didn't show "Upgrading windows" with the circle. I imagine at one time it showed it like that but I suppose it changed? Either that or my version of windows shows it like this? Or because I used media creation tool? Anyway, like I said, not a big deal but thought I would mention it. Thanks again.

Hi. Just wanted to mention another thing I've noticed.

For some background, my usual HP-15 laptop which is about 3 years old suffered some issues recently after I (I think foolishly) upgraded the bios to the most recent one - a bios that deals with "spectre". The issues were a slowdown and also the laptop ran hot.. making the fan come on strong with a simple browser launch. I was running (acccording to speedfan) 10 degrees celcius hotter than normal. I tried to downgrade the bios and roll it back but it was no use since HP locks their security update bios. So, I decided after many clean installs, repair upgrades, taking apart the thing and looking at everything to get a new laptop.

So, at first I tried to cheap out and bought some cheap amd processor laptops from best buy. One was by lenovo and the other by Hp. These had various issues (slow, noisy, didn't have accurate info about ram installed etc) so I returned them. So now I am on my third laptop by HP with an intel i3 processor and it is excellent. Very fast and quiet.

However, all three laptops required a repair install upgrade because when i started up the computer for the first time and after cortana gave her pitch, and then did the initial windows updates, after, an sfc scan showed errors, and I did the three dism scans and it showed nothing wrong. So I did the repair upgrade and it fixed it.

I just mention this because i think it is odd three different models all were corrupted after installing WU to the current version. Maybe there were corrupted before but still odd.

As it is now my current laptop, the latest HP is excellent otherwise and is fine after the repair upgrade. Just thought I would mention this experience.
