Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Hello, I am considering trying this procedure as I am another user who has been hit with the Windows Store no longer opening. Other suggestions have failed to fix this, but I have a question about doing a Repair Install. Will this overwrite all my device drivers? When I first upgraded my Dell Precision M6700 from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 a couple of months ago, it took a while to get all my drivers correct as Dell hasn't released many Windows 10 drivers for this machine. I would prefer not to go through that again. If I don't do this repair, will things get fixed when Microsoft releases their big anniversary update in a couple of months?
    Thanks!

    Hello ppappas, :)

Be careful. The inplace upgrade as I got it from here replace the drivers of your windows with the ones included in the windows installation files /iso/esd/wim you use.
If you need other drivers at the time of installation (like RAID) you need to fix the iso before you execute the install.

You could make a backup of all your drivers 1st.

Create a folder on your flash drive or any internal or external drive: Drivers
Open Admin command prompt and run: Dism /Online /Export-Driver /Destination:X:\Drivers
Replace X with the drive letter of your drive.

Thanks for the advice, I keep a fully cloned, bootable, backup drive, but I will also do a driver backup. This is actually one of my biggest peeves against Microsoft trying to get everyone to upgrade. Many somewhat older systems (3 - 5 years) which are excellent with Windows 7, don't have vendor supported drivers and never will, but Microsoft thinks those systems will be fine with Windows 10 yet they won't.

Another question, I have never used Dism before, how do I make use of the backed up drivers?
    Thanks,

I find it easier to keep all my driver installation files backed up on another drive, then just reinstall them if needed or after a clean install.

I have them on my 2nd internal, and on OneDrive(for just in case). But you can also use a USB stick, just don't forget to delete to old and add the new when a driver is update(and functions problem free)

Thanks, I do keep all the installation files on my Synology NAS. I do seem to recall that not all my drivers were replaced when I did the original in-place upgrade from Windows 7. Most notably, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology disk driver as my system is running two SSDs in a Raid 0 configuration.
