I had to register just to thank you for this article. I've been searching Google for a week to get a repair install going for my "ailing" Win 10 install. After doing this, my desktop is at about 97% working. That's up from 50%!

    Thanks for the knowledge!!!

How to know what version and build downloaded?

    Hi,
I'm new to this so I hope this query is done correctly.
When downloading Windows 10 prior to repair, where can I find what the build is? The version number is obviously within the name of the download.
My current windows 10 home x64 is version 1511 build 10586.122

    Thanks,

    NeilT

Hello Neil, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

The tutorial below can show you how to see when build and version the ISO file is.

    Hello Brink,

Thanks for your prompt reply. Version is 10.0.10586, so I assume it is build 10586

Does it matter I have build 10586.122 in regard to repairing Windows?

    Thanks,

    Neil

You could try since all it will do is fail or work, but I don't think it'll work unless it's the exact same build.

    UPDATE: It will work. :)

Thanks Brink. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes, but won't be doing it for 10 days. There's some important stuff I need my computer for, and I'd rather a few issues with it now than a total failure if something goes wrong!

    Thanks again for your help,

    N eil

Anytime. I look forward to hearing your results. Hopefully, the ISO download at Microsoft will be updated to 10586.122 by then.
