I'm fed up with Windows updates. It keeps breaking Windows!!! I knew better but I saw my pc wanted a security update for my Office 07 so I figured ok. Big mistake. Now my Windows Explorer is 2 different colors white and grey. It downloaded not 3 updates but 33 updates 3 of them I can't uninstall.

    Hello SonicBlue, :)

It may have just reset your settings. See if turning on the color for the title bar may help.

    Charlie,

You might consider doing a clean install to the latest build instead.

    OOOOKay,

System seems to support all basic requirements but I do not understand: "To install a 64-bit OS on a 64-bit PC, your processor needs to support CMPXCHG16b, PrefetchW, and LAHF/SAHF".??

I also thought you would lose all Files & Folders doing a Clean Install, do you?

Should I turn off Defender & Firewall?

System does not have a secured boot, any problems?

    Thanks, Charlie

Charlie your correct a clean install will remove everything on your computer. Is their anyway you can move your personal files, photos to another drive......even do a image backup maybe. Before you clean install.

It looks like you have some sort of custom skin installed??

I can't see this being caused by security updates.

I know it's crazy but I did nothing that day but those updates. I'm gonna try removing my office and see what happens.

    Hi OldMike65,

I'm going to have to sleep on this one.

Was hoping Microsoft had an easy method of repairing or rebuilding 10240, the way it was prior to the November Upgrade. Disc or Download.

The 10240 works just fine, just won't "Start" the 1511 install as it did prior to Answer Desk.

"5" different Answer Desk Techs said they had it fixed and would not leave me "Hanging"!!!

Well..., that was back on November 15th, 16th & 17th, until I gave up on Answer Desk.

Even wrote Microsoft a letter requesting Help, but that was 3 months ago.

Say Hi to Bella and make sure you give Bella a Treat from Charlie, before bed!

    Thanks, Charlie

You could try doing a system restore using a restore point dated before it did this to undo it. :)
