We're discussing a Repair install, aren't we? No USB booting is involved.

    What am I missing?
    Denis

"USB" added later to avoid misinterpretation.

Are there not multiple reboots involved in this process I'll admit, the confusion may be on my end.

Yes, but the reboots are not from a USB flash drive. The reboots are into the OS installed on the SSD/HDD. And if you have to turn off Safe Boot in order for that to occur, then you have the boot type virus on the system causing the failure to boot with safe boot enabled which is the exact thing that safe boot is there to protect you against. Therefore, turning off Safe Boot in order to do an in-place repair upgrade is a security risk.

    Thanks Denis,
Which brings us back to the question of why/when does the tutorial suggest to disable Secure Boot?

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? I suspect it's just a KISS suggestion. Less logic for the tutorial to handle.

Where is the suggestion to turn off safe boot? I'm not seeing it.

You seem to be referring to the non-existent para 2C.

Brink's always maintaining tutorials so perhaps this para was there at some stage but was deleted as unnecessary [I only save pdf printouts once in a blue moon and none of mine mention it].

    All the best,
    Denis
