TO CONFIRM - Is it good to use this inplace upgrade technique (and select to save apps, files, etc.) to upgrade my existing 1909 to version 2004 now that 2004 is no longer offered directly by MS? I will certainly do a Macrium Reflect backup first, but even if I select to save as much as possible, will there still be some stuff lost? This is a Dell Optiplex 7010 desktop that does NOT have WiFi or a touchpad. Please confirm my TO CONFIRM.

Good plan to make a full backup first and yes, it should get you to 2004 - be sure to leave the option to save personal apps and files selected. I've used the ISO method to update several older versions of Windows up to 2004 without issue.

Do you want to perform an in-place upgrade to version 20h2?

Open the notepad and then copy and paste the code from the following Page in your notepad.
https://pastebin.com/raw/t7LhrmFF

Then save the file and rename the extension from txt to bat and run the file.

If you cannot see the extension txt, please do this:
Hide or Show File Name Extensions in Windows 10 | Tutorials (tenforums.com)

Little hint:
It does the same as Ztruker posted, only you don't need any extra programs.
I did not create the batch.

Thank you. Note sure what an in place upgrade is. I want to run a repair on version 20H2 and keep my files and apps. Will this help with that?

Yes. This is the file I've seen used here: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade Not sure about the other one.

Hey mate

With the script that I have posted, the necessary rights to change the registry are achieved via PowerShell.

The SetAcl program is required for the other variant from Ztruker.

So after I would run the bat file the only thing I have is the ISO file that was used to install version 20H2. Would I use that as I have tried to in the past?
