Yes, I know that... that is precisely why we REALLY need to have the "IE Mode" option enabled in Edge!! Older SharePoint forms don't work properly in Edge (the rich text editor). It does when loaded in IE Mode - but I can't get that as an option on any of my work computers.

I found the policies below that you could test, but they still don't make the setting not available like you're seeing.

For all that were looking at this... I think I found the issue. It looks like that setting is not supported whenever the browser is "managed by your organization" - which means, if you have ANY group policy settings for Edge enabled, that setting won't be available.

You have to set a policy to "Allow Internet Explorer mode testing". Then, you will have the option to turn on "Open sites in Internet Explorer Mode" (not reload, but it works fairly similar).

This is what I've found so far... haven't dug further, but it looks like the answer to why that setting isn't even available.

    See this article

At the bottom, you find this:
NOTE: If you are on a device managed by your organization you will NOT see the option to Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer under edge://settings/defaultbrowser to allow Internet Explorer mode through the More tools menu. On a managed device, will see the option Open sites in Internet Explorer mode under More tools ONLY if your organization has configured the policy to "Allow Internet Explorer mode testing".

Great find. I added it to the tutorial for others that may have the same issue.

this alone is not enough to get those IE mode options in Edge.

I follow the directions from this site on getting IE mode for MS Edge (currently running Edge stable 91.0.864.64). in addition to enabling the "Allow Internet Explorer mode testing" policy, the "Configure Internet Explorer Integration" policy must also be enabled (and specifically set to "Internet Explorer Mode"). both of these policy options must be turned on to actually get IE mode.

Sorry, yup, both settings work together and are required.

also the MS Edge policy files (msedge.admx & msedge.adml) will need to be updated/replaced when new major versions of Edge Chromium comes out (like with the newly released Edge 92 version). MS usually releases many different versions of the Edge policy files on their Edge business download page (from the "Get policy files" link after choosing a specific Edge version to download). I no longer use the group policy files from Edge 91 & older and have updated them for Edge 92.

the "Allow Internet Explorer mode testing" policy entry now says "Allow Internet Explorer mode testing (deprecated)" in gpedit.msc for the Edge 92 & higher versions of those policy files as MS may soon "deprecate" and remove this policy setting altogether (maybe in Edge 94 or Edge 95)

edit: these policy settings like "Configure internet explorer mode integration" can either be enabled for the currently logged on user or for every user (aka. system wide)

the "Allow Internet Explorer mode testing" policy entry has changed to "Allow Internet Explorer mode testing (obsolete)" for MS Edge policy file versions for Edge 95, 96 & newer

OBSOLETE: This policy is obsolete and doesn't work after Microsoft Edge 94.
This policy is obsolete because it has been superseded by an improved feature. It doesn't work in Microsoft Edge after version 94. To allow users to open applications in Internet Explorer mode, use the 'InternetExplorerIntegrationReloadInIEModeAllowed' (Allow unconfigured sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode) policy instead. Alternatively, users can still use the --ie-mode-test flag.
