Thank you Matthew. Now added as option 4.
Although I already had this tweak installed (thanks Brink) I tested this new option 4 script, it works very well. Thanks Matthew and Brink.

    Great solution
    Still have a question,
after specifying win 10 to stay on 20H2 version, before the end of service few week before if I specify again to stay on 20H2 ,
Will it stay on 20H2 there after forever?
    or
Do I need to specify every few months/years?
    please clarify
referring to questions after end of service , once I re specify before end of service
    thanks

Hi venky23, welcome to Ten Forums.

At the beginning of the tutorial it is suggested that the specified version will be updated 60 days after the end of service date. (EOS). I don't believe specifying the same version again, the second time, will provide any additional time.

How to Specify Target Feature Update Version in Windows 10

A new TargetReleaseVersion policy available in Windows 10 version 1803 and higher allows you to specify which feature update version of Windows 10 you would like your computer to move to and/or stay on until the version reaches end of service or you reconfigure this policy.

If you don't update this policy before the device reaches end of service, the device will automatically be updated once it is 60 days past end of service for its version.

From my recent personal experience, even with this reg tweak, the next automatic update happened a bit sooner than 60 days after the EOS date.

The EOS for version 1809 was extended to November 10th, 2020 and I received a surprise update to 2004 less than 3 weeks after that date. Thanks M$.

That will teach me to procrastinate at a clean install.

I've had great success using set to metered connection, at least after 1709 or 1803.
I haven't been using metered connection for the past 9 months because it caused grief with Outlook 365.

That's odd, now Outlook suddenly appears to work properly with metered connection set after clicking 'Connect Anyway', it hasn't worked consistently for me yet before today.
I wonder if M$ or Google has finally fixed that bug. It used to refuse Outlook to connect with my Gmail account.

You can set both wifi & Ethernet connections to metered.

Set Wireless Network as Metered or Non-Metered in Windows 10

Set Ethernet Connection as Metered or Unmetered in Windows 10

I have used CMD script to set all connections as metered.

It is so user-friendly that even an idiot like me can use it blindfold.

    thank you very much
I really like this forum, most helpful forum on the internet
    I will try this solution,
however will this interfere with windows defender being disabled permanently
I was able to achieve disabling defender completely following another online tip posted , the only solution that works currently in dec 2020, as I'm not a big fan of WD

Metered connection will not turn WD back on.
