How to Install and Use TeamViewer

1 Click here: Download to download TeamViewer. Next click on and save the TeamViewer_setup.exe file on your Desktop or in your Download folder or wherever you want to save it.
2 Go to wherever you saved the file, right click on it and select Open to start the install.
3 Make sure Default installation and Personal / Non-commercial use are selected, click Accept - finish.
4 Once the install completes, close the What's New window if it appears.
1 If TeamViewer doesn't auto-start once the install completes, right click on the TeamViewer icon on your Desktop and select Open to start it. You will get a window like this.
The other person, your partner (one you are helping) also has to install and start TeamViewer.
2 The first time you start TeamViewer, click on Extras at the top then Options in the drop down and then Remote Control at left. Then check the Show your partner's cursor option under Display so you will be able to see if your partner is moving the cursor around while you are trying to do things. This can be very disconcerting and ins some cases cause real problems.
3 That person then gives you his (or her) Partner ID which you enter into the Partner ID box then you click Connect.
4 Next screen you will be asked for his/her password which he/she gives you and you enter and voilla` you connect to their computer and see their screen.
You will also see in the bottom right, this info window. You can get rid of it by clicking on the > in the tab outlined in red.
5 That's it. When done both of you can click the X at top right to close TeamViewer then close the next window which is just advertisement. Have fun.
You can transfer data to or from your computer to the other computer. This can come in very handy at times.
1 Rather than duplicate what is already available, simply click on Help in TeamViewer then select TeamViewer webhelp. In the TeamViewer Community window, enter file transfer in the Knowledge base Search here first box and click the magnifying glass.
