Might I suggest an additional step in the install.

I always set Teamviewer up to show the Partner's Cursor. I do this so that when I am helping someone and they are trying to point something out with their mouse I can see it. It is also handy as you can tell they are moving their mouse when you are trying to perform an action. Then you can politely say am I moving mouse or are you?

I'm assuming both sides need TeamViewer and both sides need to be logged in?

Also there was a limit of something of that imposed by Microsoft for use. Some were reporting they were closed or locked out for "unauthorized" use?

Yes, you need host and client in a logged in state (same software.)

As for your other question, is it this?

I don't know if it has been resolved.

P.S. Some AV's might bark, but if TeamViewer is clean, then exclude and permit use.

I think it would be useful to add a couple of sections:

TeamViewer security - if you choose to use a Teamviewer Account, it is recommended you use a strong password and two factor account authentication (some years ago, some users got hacked due to weak passwords and no 2FA.

Also a section on unattended access (security above is important especially here).

I don't think so. Somebody here posted about it here a few months before the pandemic hit. Don't worry about it.

Teamviewer has locked me out several times. Say I use it to much. I respond as long as I keep the spirit of agreement, I'm not charging, then I should be allowed to use. Their response, you use not much. I just stop using and go with MS Quick Assist. A couple of weeks later Teamviewer lets me back in. Even when the locked me out it was five minutes use followed by 10 minutes off.


Not sure we should use the term logged in. You start the software. Logging in sounds like you are doing something over and above with an id and password.

Yes there is granting access to the helper and there is an id and password but we are not logging in to teamviewer web site. Guess it is all in the wording.


Fully agree on strong password comment. Appears some hackers are using tools like this to log into peoples machines, buy stuff from shopping sites thereby bypassing some security checks. Some site are now scanning to see if these ports are open and if so refusing the transaction.
