How to Turn On or Off Dark Mode in Outlook.com

Outlook.com is a web-based suite of webmail, contacts, tasks, and calendaring services from Microsoft.

Dark mode changes the default bright background color in Outlook.com and Outlook on the web to a darker color, which is easier on the eyes in low-light environments or if you prefer less bright interfaces.

When dark mode is turned on, the reading pane has a dark background to reduce eye strain.

You can click/tap on the View with a light background (sun) or View with a dark background (moon) buttons at the top of the reading pane to toggle between modes on demand.
