How to Turn On or Off Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in Windows 10
If the graphics card and its WDDM 2.7 driver for your Windows 10 build 19041 and higher computer supports hardware acceleration, you can turn on hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling to reduce latency and improve video output performance.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling in Windows 10.
You must be signed in as an administrator to turn on or off hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.

1 Open Settings, and click/tap on the System icon.
2 Click/tap on Display on the left side, and click/tap on the Graphics settings link on the right side. (see screenshot below)
3 Click/tap on the Change default graphics settings link under Default settings at the top. (see screenshot below)
If you do not have this setting, then your graphics card does not support hardware acceleration.
4 Turn on or off (default) Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling for what you want. (see screenshot below)
5 Restart the computer to apply.
This option will not have any affect if your graphics card does not support hardware acceleration.
The downloadable .reg files below will modify the DWORD value in the registry key below.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers
HwSchMode DWORD
1 = Off
2 = On
1 Do step 2 (on) or step 3 (off) below for what you would like to do.
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.

This is the default setting.
A) Click/tap on the Download button below to download the file below, and go to step 4 below.
Turn_OFF_hardware-accelerated_GPU_scheduling.reg
Download
4 Save the .reg file to your desktop.
5 Double click/tap on the downloaded .reg file to merge it.
6 When prompted, click/tap on Run, Yes (UAC), Yes, and OK to approve the merge.
7 Restart the computer to apply.
8 You can now delete the downloaded .reg file if you like.
