Hello babyv005, and welcome to Ten Forums.
I'm afraid it's still not working.
Hi, does anyone know what it the latest supported version that still have this working?
I use manual sorting very extensively and will not update unless this feature is working. Have been sitting on 1511 version for a very long time and it was fine until recently Windows Update Assistant started forcing me everyday to update to the latest version and I can't seem to make it stop no matter what I try.
Hello Aksa, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
It should still work in any version before Windows 10 Creators Update version 1703.
Is there any way to undo the scripts and go back to the default settings?
Hello cdb, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
Use the downloadable .reg file in step 5 will reset folder views back to default for you.
Will there be a fix, I was forced to update windows and it broke everything....700 icons sorted and BAM now they are a mess and I don't know where everything is.
Hello tenthings, and welcome to Ten Forums.
It appears that disabling auto arrange will no longer work in Windows 10.
By default, your files are arranged in alphabetical order. If you like, here are some tutorials that can help with your fold view:
- How to Reset Folder View Settings to Default in Windows 10
- How to Backup and Restore Folder View Settings in Windows 10
- How to Change the Template of a Drive, Folder, or Library in Windows 10
- How to Change a Folder View Layout in Windows 10
- How to Change the Sort by View of a Folder in Windows 10
- How to Change the Group by View of a Folder in Windows 10
- How to Apply a Folder's View to All Folders of Same Template Type in Windows 10
- How to Set a Default Folder View for All Folders in Windows 10
disable auto arrange is working again :).
delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags\
Then use this reg file:

Unfortunately it doesn't save the position after closing the explorer or selection of other folder :/. Any suggestions how to fix this?
Hello guru1d, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)
Technically, this is the same as what's in the tutorial.
The version in the tutorial has the same issue. Disabling auto arrange works, but the set positions get automatically reset when closing the folder or opening another folder.
I haven't found a way that fully works again.
Oh I see .
Can't someone find a way how it worked before on older win10 version or on Win7. I mean there are also tools like Desktop restore you save the position on Desktop. There must be a way to save position in Folders .
Does somebody know a microsoft worker you can implement it again :)
