Yes, I know how to restore it to default, but my question is if there is a possibility to keep the tweak but without the issue in dark mode

    thanks
Not that I'm aware of since the tweak no longer works anyways.

Ok so I will continue using the tweak, but unfortunately only in the normal white mode.
At least it works on win 10 LTSC. Hope one day somebody creates a new fully working tweak or Microsoft fix this lacking feature.
    Thanks for your help Brink

Solution - New approach? (as Desktop still works)

Hello, and thank you for the great work!

I have Windows 10 ver 1909, so it doesn't work right.
Whenever I close and reopen or reaccess or even "Refresh" a particular folder (with "Arrange" off and icons already sorted as I need them) the system would rearrange the items once again.
So, let's say I have work to do and several work files, source file and finished file, plus invoice file, and I group them all as I need them.
Takes some time for around 100 files.

But I need to sort them in different corners "work to be done" "work in progress" "only check needed" "finished but invoice to be done".
I didn't have any problem under XP, then under 8.1 there were ways to fix it.
But Win10 will always rearrange upon refresh/restart etc.
Strange thing: Only my desktop will keep its arrangement, even if I click "Refresh" or restart.
Couldn't this behavior be analysed and applied to the other folders as a possible solution?

Any solution for this? I need this in order to do my work effectively.
For a working solution I would be happy to send 50 $ via Paypal!
    Plus my eternal thanks!

Maybe we can do some crowdfunding or reward setting so somebody will find a way?
    Best regds,
    Karl

PS: Meanwhile, I will just use the Desktop as my work folder (with Small Files view). But that's just a temporary solution.

Hello Karl @K81, and welcome to Ten Forums.

I'm afraid that being able to disable auto arrange in File Explorer doesn't look like it will ever work again.

We'll have to use a 3rd party File Explorer alternative that may have this feature instead.

--> Well, but on the Desktop it DOES work without any further modifictions. Isn't that as realistic approach, to check why it's working only there??

The desktop is a different UI than File Explorer.

Willing to Pay for this feature

Yes, I'm currently willing to pay to have this feature back: disable auto-arrange in folders so you can have grid activated and then sort manually, randomlly, as you like, positioning files and folders where you like, any corner, any combination.

Since I do periodical searches for this issue, I see many, many blog posts that keep having traffic: people do have this same issue. I'm sure a lot of people is interested in having this solution: disable auto-arrange in folders in Windows 10.

    I'm afraid it's a dead feature.
