Hello @wx888 and welcome to the forums. If you are talking about in explorer, you have a lot of ways to sort files. Click View and the arrow below 'Sort By' and choose how to sort them. Like this

This worked for me (win 10 ver.1607, build 14393.2430) to some extent, but since I want to use it with "tiles" view, it's no good - "extended tiles" look like a row with tiles look. The thing I found is that if you change "fflags hex 43000000" in script to "fflags hex 45200000", then it adds check boxes everywhere, but tiles view and manual sorting works. (I shit a couple of bricks after I run "restore defaults" file and all icons from desktop disappeared, but turns out script disabling viewing them and you just have to enable them back in right click menu on desktop.)
Still, there was this and that issues and more importantly I didn't like check boxes, so I tried to use "explorer++" program instead of default one, but it was no good either.
And then I stumbled upon QTTabBar, and after some fiddling with "XP like" options there was "QT Base Toolbar" in default toolbar view options, and suddenly there was everything - I can move everything where I wanted and tiles view was working, etc. Just like in my XP. Mission ****ing accomplished in no thanks to stupid Microsoft managers and their coding slaves.
It's still a long way before XP functionality could be returned, but it's a start.

p.s. I don't intend to update this version unless I really have to, since I don't have any idea what will be broken afterward and will this (and many others) program work at all. That is, unless someone at MS will take his head out of his ass and give us back our options by default without using third-party solutions. Which won't happen of course.

Hello @Rep, and welcome to Ten Forums.

Since you have version 1607 installed, you should be able to still use the tutorial on the first page to see how it works for you.

Nah, now that I looked, it uses 43000000 for FFLAGS too, and that turn tiles into unusable mess. I somehow doubt anything else there will matter much. QTTabBar did most of what I wanted anyway, and even a little more, while not having any drawbacks (so far).

@Brink Wouldn't it be possible to use the explorer of Version 1607 to make it work again also in Win 10 1803. Or identify how Win10 was able to save file positions in that version?

    Thank you.

I miss free arrange with remembering poistions after closing so much. Maybe I need to go back to Win7
