How to Use Indexer Diagnostics App for Windows Search Indexer Issues in Windows 10

Indexing the contents of your PC helps you get faster results when you're searching it for files and other things. Indexing is the process of looking at files, email messages, and other content on your PC and cataloging their information, such as the words and metadata in them. When you search your PC after indexing, it looks at an index of terms to find results faster.

Microsoft has released a beta version of the Indexer Diagnostics app in the Microsoft Store to help enhance your understanding of the capabilities of search, as well as increase the troubleshooting ability and support for general Windows Search issues.

The tool will continue to be improved with more functionality added over time. The app is available for anyone running Windows 10 version 1809 or higher.

This tutorial will show you how to use the Indexer Diagnostics app to identify problems and issues with the Windows Search Indexer in Windows 10.

    Here's How:

1 If you haven't already, download and install the Indexer Diagnostics app from the Microsoft Store.

2 Open the Indexer Diagnostics app.

3 You will now be able to click/tap on the options below in the left pane of Indexer Diagnostics to use to help identify problems and issues with the Windows Search Indexer.

I missed this tutorial when it came out, and found it after seeing something about the indexer app at Bleeping, and wanted to post about the app, and search the forums first.

Oh well at least it'll bring the post back up so others might learn of the tool

    Stats is interesting:

You get a csv file for an export, so the user needs Excel or equivalent to open and read(can also export to Excel online)

Before running the the rebuild option using this tool, I recommend using option three in Shawns tutorial Rebuild Search Index in Windows 10 Rebuild Search Index in Windows 10

To reset Search to out of box defaults.
Then select what you want, and unselect the "useless" stuff that isn't needed like what I have here(substitue "cliff" for your user name):
