How to Check for Updates in Microsoft Edge Chromium


Microsoft has adopted the Chromium open source project in the development of Microsoft Edge on the desktop to create better web compatibility. This new Microsoft Edge runs on the same Chromium web engine as the Google Chrome browser, offering you best in class web compatibility and performance.

The new Chromium based Microsoft Edge is supported on all versions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows Server (2016 and above), Windows Server (2008 R2 to 2012 R2), and macOS.

Microsoft Edge will automatically check for and install updates to the latest version by default, but you can manually check for updates to see if you have the latest version of Microsoft Edge install.

This tutorial will show you how to manually check for updates to install the latest version of the Chromium based Microsoft Edge.

You will need to be connected to the Internet to download and install updates for the latest version of Microsoft Edge.




Here's How:

1 Open Microsoft Edge.

2 Click/tap on the Settings and more (Alt+F) 3 dots menu icon, click/tap on Help and feedback, and click/tap on About Microsoft Edge. (see screenshot below)

3 Microsoft Edge will now check for updates. (see screenshot below)

4 If a new version of Microsoft Edge is available, it will automatically download and install to update Microsoft Edge. Click/tap on Restart when prompted to restart Microsoft Edge to finish updating to the latest version. (see screenshots below)

5 Microsoft Edge is now up to date with the latest version. (see screenshot below)
