How to Download and Install Microsoft PowerToys in Windows 10

PowerToys is a set of utilities for power users to tune and streamline their Windows 10 experience for greater productivity.

Inspired by the Windows 95 era PowerToys project, this reboot provides power users with ways to squeeze more efficiency out of the Windows 10 shell and customize it for individual workflows.

This tutorial will show you step by step on how to download and install Microsoft PowerToys from GitHub in Windows 10.

You must be signed in as an administrator to install PowerToys.

    Hi

Can anyone briefly explain if it is possible to create a custom FancyZones template for 9 or 12 windows (on one monitor), such that they are all automatically adjusted to have the same size?

    Is this doable in FancyZones?

    If so, how?

    Many Thanks!

    Good day Shawn,
I didn't realise that I hadn't registered on Windows tenforums before until now. Guess I must have been thinking about my few comms on Windows 7 Forum.
Listen I have an issue regarding Powertoys in as much as I haven't been able to install any version of it on my PC since June 2020. I download and run the MSI installer and it just sits there as though something is preventing it to run. I have checked my Eset Internet security and doesn't appear to be an issue there so I don't get what is causing this install to pause all the time. Any suggestions please sir?
    Kind regards

Hello Tekman, and welcome to Ten Forums.

A new PowerToys 0.29.3 has just been released. You might see if the MSI for it may work better for you.

Hi Shawn thanks for responding so quickly. I had actually tried 0.29.3 yesterday and still get the same results. Clearly it's not the installer as I haven't heard of reports from other regarding this. It must be something on my setup somewhere down the line. I can try it on my old windows 7 laptop but I don't think that will prove anything particular if it does work as it won't bring me any closer to solving this issue on 10.
