I can't find the app for Windows Photo Viewer in the 'Look for an App in Store'

Am I looking in the wrong place?
Hello Mayfly, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

Windows Photo Viewer isn't a Store app. It's a Windows system file instead.

You open Windows Photo Viewer by using "open with" to open an image file with it instead. Following the steps in the tutorial will set Windows Photo Viewer as the default program, and have it automatically open when you click on an image file.

Sorry I think I must have misunderstood something.

I did a search for using Windows Photo Viewer in windows 10 and then followed the tutorial in the first post of this thread which the search threw up.

'Open With' doesn't give me the WPV as an option.

How can I use it as my default programme to view photos?

If you already did step 2, then it sounds like you may have missed doing step 9. If done, you should be able to open an image file to have it open with Windows Photo Viewer.

    Hi,

I found your really helpful tutorial a couple of months ago, managed to re-instate my Photo Viewer default & it was great. A few days ago I noticed that Windows "Photos" was back after an update this week to my Windows 10.

    Two questions:
Do you reckon we're going to have to keep re-instating the old Photo Viewer each time we get a major update?
................ and is it safe to just do your tutorial again?

Please be kind - I'm new here & not confident with poking about in the registry. Many thanks.

Hi it should not have gone back
But because it did go to Settings
    System
    Default Apps
    Photo Viewer
Then scroll down till you see
    Windows Photo Viewer
    Click it
    Now you should have
    Windows Photo Viewer Back again

    Brink's tutorial is always good.
If it is necessary, he will revise it. Otherwise, use it with confidence.
