Mixed Results. Breaks association with edit program.

This is half of a fix.

First yes...it does restore PREVIEW but then it breaks default program to open to edit.

In Win 7 I had PREVIEW which was a right click menu item. If I just double clicked an image file it would open in my image edit program GIMP.

Now when I run this "fix" and set preview as default to view images it appears and works but that breaks the association of the file type for editing with GIMP. Double clicking on an image now opens it in Preview, not in GIMP.

    What needs to happen:

    1. Right click image offers option to PREVIEW which would open image in image preview.
    2. Double click an image (not right click) should open the image in the default image editing program, NOT in preview.

This is the way it used to function before Win 10 broke it. Becoming harder to use Win 10 for business (graphics and web) so considering reverting back to Win 7 which was easier.

    Hello Paul,

If you like, you should be able to set specific file types for what you want them to open with by default using OPTION SEVEN below. This way you could say have .jpg files open with Gimp, and say .png files open with preview.

That does not work. Tried that before posting this.If I choose GIMP as default for .png for example the option PREVIEW disappears again replaced with "Edit with GIMP" That method cancels the association with PREVIEW.

I really don't care about having an EDIT WITH option in the context menu as long as a double click on an image file opens it it GIMP. The PREVIEW program options gives me the ability to quickly page through a group without having to open and load them in GIMP which is much slower.

    Hi there!

Just a quick question: Does this change apply to all users, or just the current user who runs the .reg file?

    Thanks!

It's applied to all users, but users will still be able to apply their own default app. :)

    Hello klappa, :)

What part is not working for you? For now, double check to make sure that you have done all the steps in the tutorial. Especially step 9 afterwards.
