I presume the upgrade will wreck the fix on my current Win 10 (?) but can it be refixed again after the upgrade?
    Presumption withdrawn....

Classic photo viewer still working perfectisimo after Win11 upgrade with no registry fixes required.

Hi Shawn, I did this and everything is working fine, However when i right click on an image file there is no "edit" option, I have uninstalled default "photos" app too. Could that be the reason? How do i get the "Edit" option back, The edit will open in mspaint by default,..Can you please help?

    Hello Joseph,

An image file would normally not have an "Edit" item in the context menu.

Usually you'll see "Open" at the top, but it looks like you have "Preview" instead that should perform the same action.

Uninstalling the "Photos" app would have removed the 'Edit with Photos" context menu item. You'll have to reinstall the Photos app to get it back, but it will open in the "Photos" app and not "Windows Photo Viewer".

Hi shawn, Im 100% sure it simply had "edit" option earlier for all image files like jpg, bmp, png etc which will directly open in mspaint, I used to do that very often, but I'm not sure if this "windows photo viewer" reg hack broke it or the removal of photos app...Anyways its ok..

After some testing, restoring "Windows Photo Viewer" and making it the default app will have "Preview" at the top.

"Edit' was still in the context menu though, so it looks like uninstalling the "Photos" app may have been removed it.

I reinstalled the photos app and undo the photo viewer registry hack , but still I'm not able to see the default "Ėdit" option, Something is broken in the registry I guess,,Is there any way to fix it?
