Getting really sick of windows 10

Hey, so i had to reset my PC a few days ago.
I did a clean install and had my main drive wiped, reinstalled everything but now I cannot set "Windows 10 Photo Viewer from Windows7" as default anymore.
It still works on my other 2 PCs but on this one it just refuses to set it as default.

    I tried the usual way:
right click > Open with > chose another app > selected "Windows photo viewer" > check "always use this app for .xxx files" > ok
    Does not work.

I tried setting it as default in the windows "default apps" menu, but the Windows photo viewer is not listed there.

I tried going in the submenu "set defaults by app", where "Windows photo viewer" IS LISTED, but i cannot select .jpg or any other image extension.

If i go on the "photos" app, .jpg is listed but i cannot select "Windows photo viewer" as it is not listed.

I am seriously becoming fed up with all this windows mess.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Steve.

All of this Windows 10 RE tweaking is a PITA
What do you do if you have thousands of machines across different domains and different sites?
Bend over because MS owns your a$$ now?
This is all fine and dandy for one or two machines, but the constant upgrading is just stupid, and a security risk
You cannot tell me adding more code is a good thing
Windows 10 is a bad operating system as it is now, but the public puts up with it.....

Win 10, sucks. Linux, you have to be a guru just to save a .txt file. As for Mac, more money for your friends'...pleasure. So what...???

    Hey! Thanks for for welcome!

Yes i did try everything listed here and on numerous other sites... a few hours after making this post I did another clean Win10 install (as i was still in the process of reinstalling everything) and now, for whatever reason, it worked right away!

I have Win10 on all 3 PCs in my house, all upgraded from the same Win7 version since 2008 or 09. I Formatted / reinstalled windows numerous times on each pc over the years, when upgrading hardware or simply because windows started to bug/slow after a few years... But this was the first time that windows refused to use the Windows Photo Viewer as default!
I always first install my anti virus and anti malware and then install the few .reg files i have... always in the same order... so I have no idea why it just would not work this time!

Anyway, it's solved.. no idea why it bugged in the first place, but whatever

    Thanks for the replies!
    Cheers!
