Brink, are there any risks to any of these methods? Would using any of them run any risk of damaging the registry in a way that could cause BSODs or any other type of issue?

Also, I have a question regarding this particular method:

I noticed that you said that it causes Windows Photo Viewer to be listed twice in "Open With". Is this at all problematic? Is it a sign of any sort of registry damage or corruption? And does it matter which one of the two instances of Windows Photo Viewer one selects from the "Open With" menu, or do each of them provide identical results?

And unless I'm mistaken, the advantage of using this particular method is that it allows one to view files in the order of (for example) date modified, name, size, etc (whichever way the folder is currently sorted in Windows Explorer), which the other methods of restoring Photos Viewer do not allow one to do. Is this correct?

    Hello @hbenthow, :)

It won't cause any issues other than it listed twice if using the option you quoted. Otherwise, it pretty much just depends on which option is best for your needs.

So it won't run the risk of causing registry or system corruption? And each of the two listings in "Open With" are identical in effect if selected?

Correct. No risk of any issues other than the double Open with entry for that one option.

Hi Brink, I created the account to thank you for this tutorial. I wanted Windows photo viewer back....badly. And got it back doing Option 2 ( To Restore Windows Photo Viewer for All Accounts). All is well: Clicking on pictures in the hard drive, opening pictures that come as attachment in Web mail, right clicking a picture and choosing to open with WPV, old pictures open fine, etc.

A friend highly recommended this forum and the workarounds found here. I just bought the new PC (Windows 10 Home version 1607) on Saturday, I am glad I checked this thread yesterday and did Option 2.

    Really appreciated. Thank you.

I found another "How To" (Disable WD) by Brink that I like to try. I ll read the thread later tonight and follow through or perhaps ask some questions before doing it.
