Restore Windows Photo Viewer in Windows 10

Windows Photo Viewer is only an image viewer, and not an editor.

If you like, you should be able to right click on an image, click on "Edit", and have it open in Paint (mspaint.exe) to be able to resize etc... it.

My apologies, I went and check my old laptop and discovered that I was thinking of MS Office Picture Manager. I'd also upgraded to Office 2016 and that's why I'd lost it. I found a method to get it back (through SharePoint) and all is well.

Hey Brink, i search how to restore windows photo viewer all the time, i go to youtube and it has the same process that run the .reg files. but none of them work in ver1803 all of them results into nothing as i cant see windows photo viewer in the options of default apps. and then i saw this thread, doubting at first because the date is 2015. i thought it is the same that i found in other forums and youtube. BUT I WAS WRONG, THIS WORKS WELL. I CAN NOW USE WPV AGAIN! THANKK YOU VERY MUCH! you forced me to create account just to say thank you!!

Actually much less "registry-invasive" method is to just set needed file extension in the photo viewer file associations branch like

@Brink do you think it possible to restore the Windows 7 photo import utility in Win 10? 10 uses the photos app, and it's just not as good. In 7, the utility would import the photos and delete them from the SD card all automatically. The same can be done in the photos app in Windows 10, but only manually and on a sub menu.
