Enable or Disable Taskbar Thumbnail Live Previews in Windows 10

Since installing any version of Windows insider build 20H1 or 20H2 when I minimize any media player examples Windows Media Player or Potplayer to the bottom taskbar and I hover my mouse cursor over them in the taskbar I can no longer see a "live" thumbnail preview. Meaning even though the video is still playing all I see is a frozen image.

With 19H2 and early versions of windows I do not have this issue at all.

Are you seeing this as well with Windows Media Player for example?

If you mean for the "thumbnail preview" when you hover over the icon on the taskbar, then that isn't a "live thumbnail preview".

The "live thumbnail preview" is what you see when you hover over the "thumbnail preview". It shows you a live preview of the window on the desktop.

I tested playing a .mp4 file in Windows Media Player. When Windows Media Player is minimized, the video is automatically paused until the window is restored.

The "thumbnail preview" and "live thumbnail preview" only show the video playing in Windows Media Player when Windows Media Player is not minimized.

I'm not sure why either. I didn't see any setting in Windows Media Player to allow the video to continue to play while minimized.

I just tested with the "Movies & TV" and "Photos" apps, and it's the same for them as well.
