    >>>>You most likely would be better off getting Pro already preinstalled<<<<<<

    Your mouth to god's ear... Great idea... you call Lenovo and tell them<g>! Lenovo has significantly trimmed the ability to upgrade Home to Pro across the product line. I spent hours the past few days searching the site. And their past great telephone sales... when I tried speaking to a human Home to Pro, 2 of 2 times on different days, disconnected. Sure, if I was willing to pay >>$ and moved to a Thinkpad P series or similar, which Connie certainly doesn't need or want--likely available.

    But thanks for saying in a sentence what MS can't seem to do (or at least for Moi).

    BTW, you are not never ever allowed to leave this forum

    @markg2,

    If it were I, I would just go online and purchase a cheap product key for Windows 10 Pro, make a backup image of the Windows 10 Home on the new computer, then upgrade to pro with the cheap product key...

    If it turn out the cheap product key is bad, then restore your backup image of Home.

    When I clicked on a link to Amazon or Kinguin from a Tom's webpage, uBlock Origin blocked both. I didn't want to pursue and override uBlock before checking back...?

    If you are fairly certain of the webpage you are going to, you can override it. I find it to be a big annoyance.

    As of yesterday, the referenced machine is no longer available from Lenovo. I've pulled the plug and will wait a few months. I think this is due to the overall machine and chip supply problem. It may also be tied to Lenovo's slow roll out of Intel Gen 11 which according to reviews is hugely more significant than Gen 9 to 10. And the general problem may also be tied to the lack of Pro machines.

    Thanks,

    Hello @markg2,

    Once you have purchased your Win 10 PRO Key [ Retail ], you just enter it as per the option 4 To Enter a Product Key and Upgrade to Windows 10 Pro in the Tutorial on the FIRST page.

    I hope this helps and stay SAFE.

    Hi,

    My girlfriend got a cheap dell onsale installed with Home but wanted Pro. So we bought cheap oem Win pro keys and could not upgrade with those keys. Apparently you only can do freah install. Anyhow tried the generic key on the guide here and that failed to work until I tried the unplug ethernet trick and it worked. It rebooted and then I tried the Oem key we bought but that gave error. After reboot Windows confirmed successfull activation but I checked the product key and it was different and suspect its still the original oem key? Thought it wouldnt activate but it did. Thanks.

    It should be a well known fact that Microsoft will sell Windows OS for any price, greater than $0. I am OK with that because I know what I am buying. I recognize the software's strengths and weaknesses relating to my needs.

    There are some reputable online dealers which sell valid discounted licenses. Just do your research. I purchased valid MS licenses over the years on several occasions, both for Windows 7 and 10 Pro, separately, and also for older MS Office offline version, and Windows Updates recognizes and respects them.

    Also linking this here for troubleshooting digital licence (not product key) activation where Win 10 Pro purchased from MS Store app suddenly became Win 10 Ent (known issue):
    Cannot activate Win10 Pro after Microsoft Store app purchase
