Hello burpsensei, and welcome to Ten Forums.

You can upgrade directly to Windows 10 Pro from Home by changing the product key and entering the Pro key. Afterwards, Pro will be activated with that key.
Should I use the retail key or the KMS key?

You would want to use the Pro retail key to activate.

If you used the KMS key, it would upgrade to Pro, but will not activate.

And will it erase any of my data?
Also, will upgrading to pro, solve some of the issues that windows 10 home was giving me?

You won't lose anything with the upgrade.

It depends on the issues you were having, but it could fix anything related to corrupt system files.

You can use the generic RTM key below to upgrade to Pro, but it will not activate it. You will need to purchase a key to activate.

No. Only a purchased retail key will. That is just a generic key to install a retail Windows 10.
