You can use the generic RTM key below to upgrade to Pro, but it will not activate it. You will need to purchase a key to activate.

Hey, I updated using your keys to pro and even activated it. But then I was messing aound a bit and put the key for education edition. So now it shows windows 10 education everywhere but I have the features of windows 10 pro. The features for windows 10 education cannot be found. Can you help me with this?
Also is there a way to go back to Win10 pro?
    Can media creation tool help?

Using the tutorial again to change the key to a Pro key should update it back to Pro.

That key would not have activated Windows 10. What method did you use to activate?

I used an activator script to activate the pro and education edition. Also, I was able to downgrade to pro from education.

Ah Greetings folks. I misunderstood the upgrade from win7 pro to win 10 pro. I have a Lenovo e545 WIN7 pro sp1 but for whatever reason, it would never complete the free update. I waited and tried over n over but right at the end it says "Somethings wrong" Great. Bought aAcer with win10 home on it about 6 months ago & was considering upgrading to Pro. $100 is much on fixed income! Thought I saw earlier in the thread someone used a win7 pro key and it magically upgraded the home edition to pro. No...didnt like my key from activated win7. Wish Lenovo had gotten around to fixing the driver issues or whatever the problem was! I would have that Pro edition now instead of a win7 nearing EOL. Mebbe Linux Mint....
Thanks for the info I did glean tho!
    Be well!

Assume you are referring to my post of 2016? Well, it still works - just tested the upgrade from Win 10 Home to Pro with an old used Win 7 Pro retail key and it activated after the upgrade as before. (Made a video to prove it but can't mask the key.. )

Well, I don't know what I might have done wrong. Checked n dbl chked the key. It is from an acer OEM win7 pro from 2014. Anyway, from what I've read, win 10 pro isnt anything like going from winxp home to pro or win7 home to pro. I do believe m$ is going to shove the patches down our throats anyway. Group policies? easily found on the net . so unless I'm really missing something, I guess I'll pass.
    Thanks!

That's why it is not working. OEM Windows 7 is not transferable between different computers. OEM activation is only valid for the system it was first installed on.

Correct... that's the ticket - it has to be Retail.

It is somewhat "illegal" to purchase OEM keys.

These keys are so cheap for whatever reason. They're bought in bulk and are to be used by PC manufacturers for laptops and pre-built desktop systems.

Do note that once you have an OEM key activated, you cannot deactivate it and activate it on another system as it is already with your motherboard.
