As per usual for MS this makes no sense and is not even correct in its totality. Please, would someone tell me how this makes sense?

I'm just wondering is it still possible to upgrade to 10 for free? I have a 7 pro license.

I haven't tested since it supposedly was ended below, but it won't hurt to try.

I installed recently with a clean install -NOT via upgrading through existing win 7 Pro install/over-write or whatnot. Try downloading the oldest win10 ISO you can find, and try installing ISO offline after you've mounted it to your DVD/USB, et... then begin Activation OFFLINE, and then immediately connect online during Activation BUT before new updates? I think you will be OK. Hopefully you stil lhave your Pro Key? WayBackMachine might help you find an older ISO? Good luck!

Edit: I wonder if this Win10 Pro End of Life for Win 7, is a precursor to Win 10 EOL in general -b/c if you have Win10 installed, Win 11 Pro will be installed if your machine is eligible. *However, unlike win10, a win7 Pro Key will not work for Clean install of Win11 (have to move from 10 to 11).

I did an Upgrade from Win8.1 to Win10 2 weeks ago, no issue. Don't know as if I will be doing a clean install on it. Win10 EOL as announced by Microsoft is Oct. 14, 2025. The computer won't die, just won't get any updates and being online can be risky.

This is a 2nd reply to your post. *Guessing* If you have a win7 Pro Key the upgrade to win10 is still possible. I'd guess the "free upgrade" is for OEM licensed machines. If you have a working win10 installation that becomes corrupt, malware, ransomware, heck a patch Tues. update that bricks your machine... for MS to say "nope", you SOL for win10, seems ludicrous. Id still use an older ISO, installed offline to attempt clean install. Worst case scenario, call MS Cust Service (lol), and they'd probably hook you up with a working key, no?

*Is MS looking to get out of the OS biz? What's doing? Seems MS is doing everything & anything to force end-users to Linux distros? From MS's laughable EULA, or their bloatware strong-arming machines into obsolescence? Meh

I believe a lot of people are confusing upgrading with activation.
