Thanks. Would an update/upgrade like this fix Windows errors....such as the one I got when sending faxes?

No guarantee on that. It depends too much on what the issue is.

If you haven't already, you should post that issue over at Windows 7 Help Forums to see if a solution may be found for now.

It suddenly stopped working in Win 7 but is fine in the other boot; W10.
Have tried eveything suggested there and elsewhere to no avail.
The is also no troubleshooter for it I'm afraid.

If it works on the other W10 computer, there's a good chance it will when you update from W7 to W10.

I am wondering if this method is better than using something like MDT for upgrading from 7 to 10? Is there a easy way to mass upgrade everyone on the network without them losing data? If using MCT do you have to baby it in an admin account so the user doesnt mess with it or is there a seamless way? Thanks in advance

Will the method described in the OP work going from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 10 Home? I understand that apps will be wiped out, which is no problem, I can reinstall. But will the process work?

And am I understanding correctly that no Windows 10 Product Key will be needed, just my Windows 7 product key? Even if I then want to do a clean Windows 10 install?

    Thank you!

    Hello Mike,

The process will only work to upgrade from W7 Pro to W10 Pro for free since that is the edition the W7 key is for.

Once W10 is activated with the W7 key, you should then be able to clean install W10 using the same W7 key to activate.

To be extra safe, I would recommend to link the W10 activation as a digital license to your Microsoft account for future use on the computer if needed.

I've been trying today to go from Win 7 pro to Win 10 pro by the instructions of the OP. The progress shows 0 % and doesn't change. Been hours now. I tried it again and it still does it. Any thoughts?
