How to Enable Reader Mode to Distill page in Google Chrome

Starting with Google Chrome 75, a new Reader Mode feature is available.

When you enable Reader Mode in Google Chrome, you can use Distill page on a web page for a simplified view of the web page for easier reading. The Reader Mode feature does this by removing (distilling) all unnecessary elements (ex: ads, menus, scripts, etc...) from the web page.

If you disable Reader Mode in Google Chrome, Distill page will not be available in the "Customize and control Google Chrome" (3 dots) menu.

This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable Reader Mode to Distill page in Google Chrome for your account in Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10.

EXAMPLE: Using Distill page in Google Chrome for viewing of simplified web page

    Here's How:

    1 Open Google Chrome.

2 Copy and paste the link below into the address bar of Chrome, and press Enter.

    chrome://flags/#enable-reader-mode

3 Select Enabled or Disabled (default) for what you want in the Enable Reader Mode flag drop down menu. (see screenshot below)

4 Click/tap on the RELAUNCH NOW button at the bottom to apply.

I don't see it available anymore either.

UPDATE: It's back in Chrome 80+.

    where there's a demand there's a willing geek

I have browsed so many win 10 related websites that I can't remember where I got this from. Verified working with Chrome 79
    Enable reader mode:
Right-click on the Chrome shortcut you use to open Chrome
    Click on Properties
On the Shortcut tab, in the Target field, copy/paste the following:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --profile-directory=Default -enable-dom-distiller
This puts the item "Toggle Distilled Page Contents" in the "three dots" menu at upper right of your Google Chrome screen.

Note: if you use more than one shortcut, i.e desktop or Start menu, you have to modify the properties of each shortcut.
