Sorry, but messing around in the Registry is not for everyone and this should not be the only answer. If this is the only answer am thinking about returning to Chrome. So far Edge like Outlook 365 has not proven too friendly. Is there a way to change this without going into the Registry?

Hello dsterting9, and welcome to Ten Forums. :)

There's no need for you to mess around in the registry, The downloadable .reg file is 100% safe, and will do it for you.

Changed back to Chrome and now cannot get download. Is there some place I can find this? Still think it is absurd the way this is setup in Edge. Thanks.

Tried to open download but nothing happens. Apparently when I moved back to Chrome the download link is not recognizable. ?

Odd. The links are currently working for me in Chrome.

As a test, right click on the download button in the tutorial while in Chrome, and click on "Save link as" to see if it'll let you download it.

I take it back....it works....until you restart edge...then it does not work.

But yea if you merge the regfile it will immediately take effect and not ask....I just can't get it to save the changes permanently.

    Hello Matthew,

Does it stick if you set it in Microsoft Edge instead?

Just to verify, this doesn't apply to the new Chromium based Microsoft Edge like below.

    Hi Brink.

I tried it both Edge and IE 11. It works and then does not work on next running of the browser. This is the very first ever ever install of a Microsoft OS where I am trying to use no third party software. (ccleaner, Mozilla, Chrome, Shutup10 etc....) LOL. I want to see how much abuse it can take and how tight I can keep it. I like it so far!

I have had to reload it a few times due to seeing how far I could go deleting services/auto updates etc ......but man with shift/restart and the speed of hardware these days it is dang near like tweaking and resetting a phone (fast!).

I would love to get rid of the couple of little hiccups I see though....

I must admit that I'm not sure why this setting is being reset like this.
