@Brink and @badrobot may negotiate about the pop-up messages, which can be changed at will in the following scripts:

    Add_[Camera_on-off]_into_context_menu.bat
    Remove_[Camera_on-off]_from_context_menu.bat

The first one will add it into the desktop context menu. The second will remove it.
As usual, it will be an elevated shortcut without a UAC prompt.

    Thank you Matthew.

This has been added as option 5 in the tutorial now.

I only adjusted the spacing and text a bit for the notification to make it fit better.

Brink you're doing a god job informing, disabling camera, I didn't notice if there is a thread to disable microphone as well, but the steps are basically the same.

The reason for my input is that, people should also know that disabling (or uninstalling) microphone is also important, for the same reasons you mentioned in your first post.

Ofc. unless one really needs camera/microphone and takes care of his OS.

    Hi @Matthew Wai

For some reason, the remove context menu script is returning an error message and the shortcut is not getting removed from the context menu.

Please have a look when you have the time.

The reason is that you have changed the default shortcut name from "Camera on/off (toggle)" to "Camera On/Off" as shown in the screenshot in your post #30. To remove the shortcut, you may do either of the following:

    1. Change "Camera on/off (toggle)" to "Camera On/Off" in "Remove_[Camera_on-off]_from_context_menu.bat" and run the batch script again.

    2. Run the following via an elevated Command Prompt:
    Reg delete "HKCR\DesktopBackground\Shell\Camera On/Off" /F

PS Feel free to modify the script as long as you know what you are doing.

    Hi Matthew,

I know I changed the name, but I changed it from the bat file itself.
Actually, it was working the first time without issues even when the name is changed. But when I tried it the other day, it is not working anymore.

Anyway, I needed to play around with my laptop and had to revert back from image backup and everything is back to normal now.
    Thanks.

I just changed the name to "Camera On/Off" as you had. I have clicked on the changed shortcut many times, and it is working properly.

Yesterday, on my Windows, all toast notification, including "Safely To Remove Hardware", did not work.
Now, after a reboot, all toast notification works.
So, you only had to reboot your PC without having to do the following:
