I have done quite a bit of work on setting my system up [fresh custom install] exactly how I want it. This has included adding various extra items and menus to the Context Menu using REG files. The thing is, I want some of these adaptions to be available at ALL levels [Desktop, Folder, Drive etc]. Unfortunately, this has turned out to be a lot easier said than done. So I thought to myself, how can I make this task a lot easier and manageable. Customising the Win+X menu with just the main extra items and menus that I want available at ALL levels [because the Win+X menu is available wherever you are in the OS] sprung to mind.
I am going to have a look at this in the next few days and I was wondering if anybody had any success customising the Win+X menu, and if so, do you have any tips please?
Thanks in advance.
Hello Paul,
I'm not sure what you mean by having the Win+X menu available at all levels since it only opens above the Start button by default.
Do you mean that you want a context menu at all those locations with the same shortcuts in the Win+X menu?
Could you provide more details about this?
Sorry Brink, I re-read my post and even I can see that I didn't make it clear [it sounded alright in my head though ].
What I meant was, instead of adding the extra items and menus that I want available wherever I am in the OS to the Context Menu, I would add them to the Win+X menu [except the icons obviously]. I am talking about my own customised menus like God Mode, Settings, Restart Explorer. System Tools, Shut Down, Safe Mode, and Restart Start Menu. The reason being that the Win+X menu is available wherever you are in the OS, which is what I want!
Thanks in advance.
Thanks Brink,
[1] Would I be able to add another group and have ALL my customisations in there?
[2] As I am using a test custom install at the moment, is it easy to save the new Win+X menu. That way, when I have my finished my custom install and install for the last time, I can copy the newly created Win+X menu to it?
Thanks in advance,
One quick question please!
Would I be able to add something like [ just an example from one of my menus ] . . .
. . . by just using Shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00 or will I not be able to do things like this in the Win+X menu?Code:[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\Shell\SafeMode\Shell\01NormalMode] @="Restart in Advanced Startup Options" "Icon"="bootux.dll,-1019" [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\Background\Shell\SafeMode\Shell\01NormalMode\Command] @="Shutdown.exe /r /o /f /t 00"
