OK. When I migrated to 1903 on five systems, I had to use GPedit to turn off the Blur Effect.
At no time was I left with a blank screen, the Blur Effect was simply disabled.

However, on two of those five systems, post 1903, the picture was changed to another of the default pictures, which was very odd.
I had to reset it back to the original.

    FWIW.
Did you also turn off the Lock Screen? The issue I was referring to only happens if the Lock Screen is also disabled.

Correct. The Lock Screen was disabled on all systems prior to the upgrade.

MS is simply a little blurry on the concept of user choice.
    That's punny!

I clean installed Insider fast build 18922 a few days ago, and enabled the policy "Show clear logon background" using gpedit.msc. It is still showing that in Local Group Policy Editor.
But, I was still getting the horrible blur effect. Checked registry, and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System\DisableAcrylicBackgroundOnLogon had not been added. I added it manually, and the blur is gone, at least for the 1st restart after making the registry change.

    Hi,

    I have a question.

I have got this problem on my laptop which has Windows 10 home edition and my Desktop which has Windows 10 Pro edition.

The Windows 10 Home Edition does not have Group Policy as shown on the first page. Does anyone know how I can get my blurred sign in background screen back to being unblurred on Windows 10 Home Edition ?

    I would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I used the reg edit in 1st post or you can also turn off 'Transparency effects' in Settings/Personalization/Colors. Either verified to work on numerous Win10 Home systems that I support incl mine.

    mrgeek,

Update, I have done what was suggested and used the reg technique as in post 1 and yes, it worked brilliantly.

Thanks to mrgeek and Windows 10 Forum for your help.
