How to Add or Remove Icons in Microsoft Edge Toolbar in Windows 10

Microsoft Edge is a new web browser that is available across the Windows 10 device family. It is designed for Windows 10 to be faster, safer, and compatible with the modern Web.

Starting with the Windows 10 October 2018 Update version 1809, Microsoft added the ability to customize which icons appear in the Microsoft Edge toolbar – you can remove them all for a tidier look, or add as many as you like to bring your favorite functionality to your fingertips.

This tutorial will show you how to add or remove icons in the Microsoft Edge toolbar for your account in Windows 10.

EXAMPLE: Toolbar icons in Microsoft Edge

    Here's How:

    1. Open the Microsoft Edge app.

    2. Click/tap on the Settings and more (Alt+X) button, and click/tap on Show in toolbar. (see screenshot below)

    3. Click/tap on the icon item to check (add) or uncheck (remove) it in the toolbar.

    That's it,

This would have been a useful tip if it were still implemented as in the tutorial. I think it now only works as a sub-menu of "Extensions".

Anyway, that's not why I'm here 😊 I was looking for a tutorial to remove stuff from the end of the ADDRESS bar - not the toolbar. For example, I can see a yellow star and a book in your screenshot.

In my case, at this moment, I see:

    - Create QR code
    - Zoom
    - Add to favorites

They seem to appear and disappear dynamically. Probably useful but I would like to know how to control them.

    Thanks.

The icons appear when useful for a site... except I don't find them useful. I figured out how remove the "coupon" icon there but not the "block third party cookies" icon there. I want to block third party cookies but see no need to know about it each time. The little red "x" is distracting.

This tutorial is about Legacy Edge, not Chromium Edge.

Is there any point in keeping out-of-date stuff here?

Who in the world still uses Legacy Edge?
