Enable or Disable New Tab Page Material Design UI in Google Chrome

    That would be normal for any page other than on the "New Tab" page.

    Do you have you Chrome startup set to open to the "New Tab" page instead of a specific page?

    That solved it - setting open Chrome and the Home button to New Tab displays the Google search page in the new UI!

    I'm kind of experiencing the opposite. When I set New Tab Page Material Design UI to Disabled and relaunch I still have the new UI tabs.

    Because the flag mentioned in this tutorial doesn't affect the tabs, if you want to have the tabs with the previous design you should use this flag:
