Change Quick Access Icon in File Explorer in Windows 10

It's correct in the tutorial. You will just need to add the keys and value when using option 1 since it's not there by default.

a bit off topic but i wanted to check with you @Brink have you ever come across this issue before?


So i have my steam icon white as you can see in the image above, behaving normal for days, then for no reason it breaks...


And looks like this without me changing anything, and the change is random too, it can happen when i'm gone from my pc or when i'm playing a game or working in some program....


Any idea why this would occur?

It could be anything from some issue with Steam, graphics glitch, or icon cache.

Does refreshing the icon, explorer process, or icon cache has it show properly again?

Have not tried all the commands in Rebuild Icon Cache in Windows 10
But restarting my pc or restarting explorer works around 30% only...

The one thing that does work is to rightclick the icon and unpin it from taskbar, then go to
AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\TaskBar
and repin the white steam icon shortcut again...
But this process is kinda tiring

If (when lol) the icon breaks again i'll try the solutions you suggests in Rebuild Icon Cache in Windows 10.
