    Neither group policy change nor reg file stopping Edge from loading!

    Neither group policy change nor the downloaded reg file are stopping Edge from loading!

    Any other suggestion please Shawn?

    Thanks.

    Hello Mark,

    Just to verify, this doesn't apply to the newer Chromium based Microsoft Edge.

    Please go ahead and post a screenshot of Task Manager showing what is loading for Microsoft Edge to see if anything may stand out.

    Does this also turn off preloading the New Tab Page?

    Hello mate,

    It will prevent anything from Microsoft Edge from preloading, but it won't stop the New Tab page from loading at the startup of Microsoft Edge if set to do so below.

    The reason I ask, is that CCleaner, FWIW, often asks me to turn off Edge pre-launching and tab pre-loading so that it can fully clean some parts of the Edge browser. Some example regkeys it wants me to put in there also include:
    Code:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\MicrosoftEdge\TabPreloader]
    "AllowTabPreloading"=DWORD:00000000

    Ah, ok. If those were still turned on, they would be "in use" causing CCleaner to not be able to clean anything in use.

    "AllowTabPreloading would be for the tutorial below.

    Am I correct in assuming this tutorial applies only to legacy Edge and is irrelevant to Edge Chrome?
