    1) Networking can be frustrating,
    2) A workaround that helps in some cases is to configure a shortcut using the network name of the PC.
    Thanks for answering!!
    1) I heartily agree
    2) One of the first things I tried earlier this afternoon

( I usually keep a copy of the links stored locally )

@Brink - something interesting, perhaps, that user centen found:
    22H2 can't access network shares of 20H2

    - wonder if there's anything worth adding that might help in this very fragile and frustrating area...

    Solved!
I had to turn on "Enable insecure guest logons", as described here.
Apparently it's required on 22H2, but not on 20H2.

It would have been solved much faster if Windows also showed the correct error message in Explorer, instead of "Check the spelling and try again.

That's what I was doing last 10 years on all shares by default.
    :-(
but I never related it to be a solution to the network error!!!

    Sorry guys, my bad !

Hi Shawn, finally realised there's quite a useful wizard for sharing folders using Computer Management e.g.
    Action, New Share

    - or if Shared Folders, Shares is open, rt click in empty space in the middle pane, New Share.

I don't think that's been described here, and for once looks actually helpful... so could be worth including..

Option 9 only applies to Pro.
That wizard does not exist for Home.
So I suggest annotating Option 9 with that info.

    All the best,

    Brink,

I really dislike giving advice that contradicts a tutorial so I thought I should bring this difference to your attention.

Share the desired folders - each folder in turn on on each computer in turn.
Sharing is set up on the computer containing the folder to be shared [you cannot make another computer's folder a shared one].
    - In File explorer, right-click on the folder, Properties, Sharing tab, Advanced sharing
    - Set the checkbox for Share this folder
    - Give it a Share name
    - Click on Permissions,
    - Everyone - Set Full control, Change or Read as desired

There is additional guidance in Share Files and Folders Over a Network - TenForumsTutorials
[This tutorial also applies to Windows 11]
One user has warned me that my Step 6 works but the Give access to Options 2, 3 of the tutorial did not in one Windows 11 case.

Using your guide and and selecting share instead of give access to worked. On my first attempt I did get give access to to work on my new mini pc but it stopped working when I tried to give access to on my desktop.
