I've worked through the very helpful tutorial, but have come across an issue that I don't understand: on my PC, the context menu for folders includes the "give access to" option, but the context menu for files doesn't do so. Is there any obvious reason why this might be the case?
I've noticed also that the "Share with" section of the ribbon is also greyed out. I have 3 PCs here, and this is the case for all three.Could any advanced sharing settings be causing this?
Hello,
As a test, see if using option 1 in the tutorial below to add the context menu may fully restore it.
Give access to Context Menu - Add or Remove in Windows 10
Hi, what's the state of the bottom option here?
Also note there are some exceptions- some things that cannot be shared, when the option will be legitimately greyed out.
Particular case, just for interest:

Yes, I've tried files of different types. in different folders and on different drives.

I've noticed that the Registrar Registry Manager is reporting the Type for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\PropertySheetHandlers\Sharing\\(default) as "value not set", even though the Data Editor window reports it as REG_SZ. Is this significant? (My understanding of the registry is very limited!)
