    Hi, investigating this thread:
Disable touchpad in Windows 10 Home - Windows 10 Forums

    post #4:
I found the option not present with my Synaptics driver.

Changing (in the end both) but in particular
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\DisableIntPDFeature = 33 hex
restored the option in the Synaptics settings dialogue to disable touchpad if mouse connected as others had reported in various places.

    - having changed without effect
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Synaptics\SynTPEnh\DisableIntPDFeature = 33 hex

    Hello @dalchina,

Hmm, I wonder why Option 1 wasn't there by default for you.

Don't know, but there are plenty of internet references to restoring it to the Synaptics settings... so it's not just me... but quite a common issue over a long time.

And still no option in Settings relating to this - and I'm using 1709.

This wasn't here before the reg change in HKCU:

I have a Dell laptop 13-7353 with Win 10 1803. Precision touchpad. There is not a clickpad tab for option number 1. Option 2 does not keep it disabled, even before 1803. Frustrating as my cursor jumps to previous lines while typing. Tried installing a Dell driver without positive results. I use a MS usb mouse. Can I just uninstall the touchpad in device manager? Do not know I would ever use it again unless the mouse battery failed and a replacement was not available.

    Hello,

Sure, you could disable the touchpad in Device Manager if you don't want to use it.

On top of everything else, disable no longer exists in Device Manager. MS updated my driver and I had to get an old one off of HP website. The only way I could install the driver was to click "Delete files" and then uninstall and then install the new driver. If you you try to reboot after uninstalling and deleting the files, the touchpad will reinstall on boot and the old driver will not install. Is there anything else that can be done to disable the touchpad?

You could give the free TouchFreeze or TouchpadPal a try to automatically disable the touchpad while typing.
