If what you actually want is a shortcut that will clear the entire clipboard history, then create a shortcut with administrative privileges and the following target:

powershell.exe -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command Restart-Service -Name "cbdhsvc*" -force

This works by stopping and starting the service that manages the clipboard history. When you click the shortcut, it will flash up a power shell command window, briefly, so you can tell that it is trying. If you would prefer it to be mute, add the additional option '-WindowStyle Hidden' before -Command.

    I have the following settings:
    Clipboard history: Off
Sync across devices: Not logged in

    1.
Has all my clipboard data been uploaded to Microsoft?

    2.
Does it only upload clipboard to Microsoft, if Clipboard history is ON and Sync across devices is ON?

    Thanks for replying

    Best regards

    Hello,

Your clipboard history will only sync via your Microsoft account to all your devices if you have turn on clipboard history and turned on sync across devices on each device you want.

I have now turned both Clipboard history ON and Sync across devices ON

The History gets updated whenever I copy text, take sceenshot etc. (Windows + v)

But when update Clipboard history and monitor network activity, there is no upload, how can that be, when the sync setting is ON?
When is the upload / sync happening?

    Thank you for your help

I don't know the specific process responsible for the sync.

I have copy / Ctrl. C alot when editing photos of my children etc., or working with work-related mateiral. But now I am concerned that, whenever I have copied something, that it has been uploaded to Microsoft.

But you say that, as long Clipboard history is OFF and Sync across devices is OFF, no upload is happening to Microsoft, so that give me some peace at mind.

When I copy a file, the Clipboard history is not updated. But I assume that, the copied file is present in memory.
All the sources I have found, only mention CIipboard history being able to store "text" and "images".

    1.
If Clipboard history is ON and Sync across devices is ON, and I copy a file, would the file then be uploaded to Microsoft?

Correct. Files would not be included in Clipboard History. Only text and images.

    Sync across devices
    “Microsoft receives your clipboard data”
    1.
Is this still the same elements shown in Windows + V?
And are still only Bitmap, Text and HTML elements?

    2.
If Clipboard history is ON the copied elements are stored on the PC, what is the directory / path to this folder?

It's stored in memory, and not an actual drive/folder location.

To add to what Brink said, the traditional Clipboard held only one item at a time, next Copy or PrntScrn replaced what was there. The Clipboard in Win10 holds many more items, have had 20 in it at one time and could choose which to Paste. Things changed with the Snippy app which then gets replaced by Snip and Sketch. I frequently use the keyboard shortcut for getting a screen or portion of a screen.
